I am a professional musician and fully qualified teacher. I have performed in innumerable concerts. I am enthusiastic and very experienced. I give lessons at my home in central Canterbury.
I gained my music degree at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and did my teaching qualification at Reading University. I spent 30 years working for Area Music Services, teaching individuals, small groups and whole classes. In addition, I’m a conductor, and have worked with many bands, orchestras, clarinet choirs and other ensembles.
I have taught an incalculable number of pupils, of all ages, adults as well as children. I am passionate about sharing and passing on the gift of making music. I take great pride in drawing out and developing each student, at his or her own pace, celebrating each and every achievement. I am very happy to prepare students for grade exams, when appropriate, and have an exemplary pass rate. But many of my pupils simply play for fun, and for the pure joy of music making.
I have published a great deal of wind music, mainly for clarinets, some of which I use in my lessons.
If your dream has always been to play an instrument, then now’s the time, go for it! It’s never too late!
